-
What is your cancellation policy?
Your scheduled appointment time is reserved just for you. I require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Missed appointments or late cancellations may result in a fee, as outlined in the practice policy. Consistent attendance supports your progress in therapy, and we appreciate your commitment to the process.
-
Are session in-person or virtual?
At this time, sessions are virtual only.
-
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes, though this can vary based on your needs. Intake sessions may last longer.
-
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
A Good Faith Estimate outlines the expected costs of your therapy services. It’s provided to help you understand and plan for your care — especially if you’re not using insurance. This estimate is not a bill but a transparent look at potential fees based on your needs and goals in therapy.
-
How many sessions will I need? How long does therapy take?
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. The length depends on your goals, needs, and what brings you in. Some clients attend for a few months to focus on specific concerns, while others continue longer for deeper healing and support. Based on your presentation and progress, I will provide a clinical recommendation tailored to your needs, but ultimately, you decide what feels right for your journey.
-
Do you accept insurance?
I am in-network with Aetna. For other plans, I can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits.
-
How do I get started?
You can begin by scheduling a 15 minute consultation HERE.
-
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is protected by law and ethics. There are a few legal exceptions (such as safety concerns), which I’ll explain in our first session.
-
Do you prescribe medication?
As a psychotherapist, I do not prescribe medication. However, if we determine that medication may be helpful for your healing, I can refer you to a trusted psychiatrist, primary care provider, or nurse practitioner.
-
Will I need to be diagnosed with a mental health condition if I participate in therapy?
Not necessarily. A formal diagnosis is only given when it’s clinically appropriate and often required for insurance billing purposes.
Depending on the specific issue that therapy is addressing you may receive a diagnosis that will be listed in your treatment record.
-
Do you only provide services for Black women and girls?
My practice is open to everyone and I have experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds. However, I specialize in working with Black women and girls.
-
Do you offer couples therapy?
I do not offer couples therapy.
-
What happens if I decide not to use my insurance benefits for therapy?
If you choose not to use your insurance benefits, you can pay for sessions out-of-pocket. This allows for greater flexibility, privacy, and control over your care without the limitations that sometimes come with insurance, such as a required diagnosis or session limits. I'm happy to discuss this option with you to help you make the best choice for your needs.
